1. I've known a few people like this

and their motivations vary a bit.

They want to be "heroes" whatever the hell that means. Some want to put the "THEMS" in their place. Some want to use those guns against "Muslim terrorists," "Black Lives Matter terrorists," "liberal, 'commie' types" and anyone else who they are told by Fox "news" are "A danger to 'The American Way of Life.'"

Most of these guys very insecure and easily fired up to the point of threatening, or actually committing violence.

What they have in common is that they are not very bright. Many have lots of street smarts, but they are politically uneducated and lack the ability to think, and reason, for themselves. I suppose this is the reason they are so easily manipulated by those who desire anarchy. And these guys are more than willing to provide that anarchy, never realizing that they are mere tools to those who desire power.

On edit: People like these are motivated more by hatred than by any other emotion. And that's both sad and frightening.
