Alan Grayson and 87 Democrats vote to enable racial discrimination

Hedge Fund Alan shows his hypocrisy once again.

So that happened. This week, the House of Representatives voted to help banks and car dealerships discriminate against customers of color. And it wasn't just Republicans -- 88 Democrats, including Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) -- voted in favor of the legislation.

Most dealerships are authorized to sell cars and make loans to finance the purchase. They send their customers' financial information to a bank, which then sends the dealer an appropriate interest rate for a borrower with that particular credit profile. But banks also permit dealers to "mark up" the interest rate on the loan to a higher level, and allow the dealership to pocket some of the additional charge.

That, of course, creates incentives for the dealer to charge people higher interest rates. But lawsuits dating back to the 1990s have shown that people of color are more likely to have their interest rates marked up than white borrowers. Black, Latino and Asian-American borrowers also tend to see higher markups than white borrowers.

Alan Grayson says he has closed his Caymans hedge funds

Adam C. Smith, Times Political Editor
Friday, October 9, 2015

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alan Grayson says he has closed down hedge funds that he set up in the notorious offshore tax haven of the Cayman Islands, which have proven to be a considerable political headache for the populist congressman from Orlando. The moves comes on the heels of the millionaire Democrat recently changing the name of his hedge management company -- from Grayson Fund to Sibylline Fund - afer (sic) critics filed official House complaints against him for allegedly violating House rules for improperly using his name in the investment vehicles.

~ snip ~

For a candidate who often complains about income inequality and companies evading taxes, setting up his own company in an offshore tax haven created, at the very least, a perception problem. The listed address of Grayson's Caymans-based hedge fund was the Ugland House in Grand Cayman, where nearly 20,000 companies list their address in order to minimize their taxes.

"Either this is the largest building in the world or the largest tax scam in the world," Barack Obama said of Ugland House in 2009.

Alan Greenspan, LOL

i remember when Grayson used to come here and engage somewhat with us on legislation. Maybe it was just him asking us for support, I'm not sure which it was now.

some must not think it is important to listen to citizens. It is hard to change what you don't acknowledge.

I've always suspected it was a surrogate. Then, for awhile "he" was in here asking for money. The guy has always made my skin crawl and I could never tell anyone why. As it turns out, he IS a real sleezeball.

But, as I suspected they are from a very mixed area of liberals/conservatives to very deep red areas. It's actually surprising that they would even elect a D in two of those areas.
