Woman gives her shoes to barefoot homeless woman. Now shoeless herself, man gives her thick socks

Kay Brown, 26, was on her way home from work in Manhattan when she encountered the mentally handicapped homeless woman
She gave her shoes to the barefoot woman, and walked home in her mismatched socks, padded with a second pair given by a helpful stranger

'I wasn't doing it for attention, but people started coming up to me saying, "That was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen,"' Kay told Today. 'Everybody was so kind. You want people to pass those things on, and see something like that and do something themselves.'
Kay, who also volunteers with organizations for feeding the homeless and is the social media manager for multiple sclerosis awareness non-profit Fly for MS, added that she has her parents to thank for instilling good values in her that lead to such instincts as the one that saw her give up her shoes.
'This is something so small but the response has been so large. With all the stuff that's happening in the world right now, seeing the smile on that woman's face was the best,' she added.
'Kindness can be way more powerful than any sort of fighting. I'm glad all these people have seen it and wanted to make a difference as well.'
