Finally watched 'American Sniper'.

I started the movie expecting to hate it along with Chris Kyle and Clint Eastwood and finished watching with, at most, mixed emotions. Fist let me say that, with utmost respect to Michael Moore's family, I don't think snipers are any more or less evil than any ground soldier and they have been around since at least the 1700's. Now, as for the movie, I don't see how it might have glorified combat in the least. Kyle's attitude towards are not exactly enlightened, but I am old enough to have known my fair share of WWII veterans and can say that wars can and does bring out some of the worst in people. And the movie did not paint him as the optimal husband and father.

The biggest issue for me is that it looks like Clint Eastwood took the autobiography (which was apparently embellished) entirely at its word. I find it hard to believe that Kyle was about to pick off a moving person who was a mile away and under a camouflage cover. And THAT is one mistake for which Eastwood can be confused. Was it a great movie? No. But it wasn't the right wing propaganda piece that I expected, either. Personally, i highly recommend 'Hurt Locker'.
