Max Mayfield says the rain associated with Beryl is up from 3-6 inches to
4-8 inches. He also said there are winds as high as 84mph.
Stay safe Florida DUers. My sister says rain in pelting in Miami right now and it's also pelting in Pembroke Pines.

2. Stay safe

On Friday hubby and I went shopping for our hurricane supplies. There was a battery special and lots of other supplies were on special. We sure stocked up. This week we'll refill our first aid kit.
We have learned that the price often doubles once a storm is mentioned. |

Last edited Mon May 28, 2012, 10:04 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) The storm is inland now, but expected to be over Savannah on Monday and Tuesday. It will be interested to see what kind of wind and rain it retains.
So far, Beryl has brought much needed rain. |

look like it's getting better organized. Good thing it's right near coming ashore.
JAX looks to get slammed. None of the bands near Sarasota, yet. |

It rained pretty hard here earlier.
We've had rain almost every day for the past few weeks. Summertime in So. Florida: Wet & Humid, Hot & Buggy. |

8. I was in Miami-Dade a few summers ago

and there was rain and lightning every freaking day.
We've had a lot of rain this year but that only means that fruit and vegetable prices are really low. Looks like plenty more rain is coming our way via Central America and I'm sure you'll get your share. There's nothing any of us can do about tropical weather other than preparing for the worst. Florida has been very lucky since 2005 and I have a feeling your luck will run out this year. |

Winds are strong, maybe 45mph, but not too bad. It's been raining heavily, off and on for the past few hours.
Beaches have been closed since this aftn. I surfed this morning, waves had a bit of size, wind was favorable then came onshore hard. Just got out of the water again about an hour ago. The wind is straight offshore now but it's a bit difficult getting into waves with the wind coming up the face at 40 mph+. Overall a fun storm. |

11. My nephew was at a beach wedding up there since yesterday
|
He phoned me on the way home and said they all left out before the rain.
Truthfully tropical storms that move quickly can be fun - when they are slow they can do severe damage with the rain. Of course Florida doesn't face the water coming off the hills and mountains. |

Actually I snapped a photo of them myself. Just thought it was kinda cool.
Girl in her white dress with an angry sea behind her. Not sure if it was the same wedding party or not but I hope they enjoyed town. |
