(65,616 posts)Serious, you shouldn't even joke about such things. Wouldn't that just create a buttload more terrorists? Have we learned nothing from history?

(35,433 posts)How can we have a civilization where people feel that mass murder is justified because a cartoon offended them?

(65,616 posts)If you don't see the irony by now, then you are too myopic to have this discussion imo.

(68,868 posts)You realize that 99.9% of ISIS's victims are Muslims, right?

(30,674 posts)Islam is a death cult and so is Christianity. Where do we get the gall to ban their practices when we do the same thing. You can claim we don't but that's not true.

(7,365 posts)Don't forget, Christianity had its day in the silly sun. We don't kill people for working on Sunday anymore. Christianity got over its Dark Ages phase ... had it not the world would probably be over by now. While the extremism IS there in Christianity still (see the murder of doctors that perform abortions), for the most part they are harmless and stick to protesting dead soldiers funerals or threatening to light oneself on fire.
Will Islam be a harder religion to "modify"? Hard to say, but until they do what the Christians did and to admit part of their holy book is non-sense this type of shit won't end. But to ban the religion? That's absolute non-sense.

(35,433 posts)Absolutely not. Catholics for peace ring a bell? There are tons of religious people who are Christian who are dedicated to bringing a peaceful and just world.
Are there parts of Christianity to be concerned with? Damn right, but the most radical mullahs in the US are at present NOT in league with people who slaughter innocent children and behead people. If you can find a video of Pat Robertson doing such then you may have a point.
And while Christian proselytizing is still a major nuisance, at last check I know of no inquisition that is currently in progress.

(7,627 posts)Why dont you go read about the inquisition in europe in the 16th century (and look up the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre while you are at it ). This is essentially what you are proposing. Lets round up muslims and force them to convert or what? jail them ? kill them ? Think of what you have written.
In any religion, there are extremists. Those are the problem, not the vast majority of peaceful followers who are entitled their own belief. Freedom of religion is one of the tenets upon which this country is founded.
