The student who was assaulted just lost her mother. She's an orphan now and in foster care. (Original Post) Are_grits_groceries Oct 2015 OP

I think this was a case, of a gung ho football coach/cop/roidheaded powerlifter deciding he needed to set an example to make sure everyone knows and respects his authoritah in 'his' school.

Surely this guy was well aware of what other students knew and thought about him, as well as his own history of abusing people, and quite likely, wanted to keep them scared, silent, and compliant.

Power tripping types tend (almost without exception) to double down when it comes to illegitimate exercise of power...regardless of whether its a cop, a dictator, or a politician.

Let's not leave that part out. He didn't just materialize there out of thin air. He was called in to deal with her.

There were a lot of non-student people who knew, who said and did nothing.

Theres a saying relating to that...

Even in Texas, when my daughter died the school set up consoling for her daughter.

You lose your mother and then at your new school, a cop tries to kill you.

I lost my mother when I was about her age. I was very traumatized even though I still had my father and brothers. Can you imagine being just 16 and all alone in the world?
My eyes are misting up just thinking of that poor girl's situation. I hope someone sets up a gofundme site for her. I'd kick in a few dollars.

That just sucks. The school must have been aware of this. One would think there would be some understanding.

Can't imagine what that poor girl is going through.

And perhaps not in the best way. But she's a kid, pretty much at the end of her rope - she's not gonna get every nuance right. A GOOD school resource officer would have never raised a voice sorting this out. Good Gawd.......

I lost my Dad between 2nd and 3rd grades. My 3rd grade teacher wrote on my report card that "she has an unfriendly attitude". Oh, really, you dumb jackass!! btw, the teacher knew my Dad.
So many still don't recognize depression in children.

This young woman was grieving and living in another world of daydreaming and remembering and worrying about her future.
She deserves a lot of help. How can I help?

School should be a nurtering place. What about the teacher, he or she just stood and watched this happen as standard operating proceedure?

Couldn't they have let her teachers know that she's emotionally fragile right now?

PTSD and grief are very lonely places even for adults. I can only imagine how much worse it is for teens.
