To bad the new villain in the soon to be released Batman movie spells his name Bane....

think about it, a rampaging villain who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, to maximize his profits, so to speak, just might have something in common with Bain capital....

Holy Metaphor, Batman...

I get what you're saying, but... it's kind of a silly point.

Especially given that batman's not really the sort of hero progressives can rally around; he's a 1% womanizer who gets his jollies by beating people up as part of his personal revenge fantasy.

Green Arrow would be a better example for us but he never gets the good press. People like the guy in black with mommy and daddy issues.

It has always been a good question, though. Why does Bruce Wayne take a boy about the same age as he was when his parents were killed and train him to attack armed men?

I think it is guilt. Bruce Wayne, the boy, scion of wealthy parents would have had no chance against the much larger and armed murderer of his parents. Bruce Wayne the man, Batman, has never really been able to believe that there is nothing he could have done. So, he is compelled to take in boys and train them to do what he couldn't. When a Robin succeeds in doing what he could not, he is able to tell himself that his guilt is justified.

As far as Batman's sexuality? Well, it isn't the Joker that Batman always goes easy on. Catwoman, on the other hand, never fails to turn his head.

"Halt, evildoer!"
"Or what?"
"Or I shall not support my allies, allowing you and your cronies to win, that'll show my friends I mean business."
"Uh... okay."
"And then I'll come up with a witty slogan about you and make it into a bumper sticker, just you wait!"
