Obama calls Romney speech 'a cow pie of distortion'
By Kristen Welker, NBC News

DES MOINES, IA President Barack Obama delivered one of his most direct attacks against Mitt Romney here Thursday night, painting Romney as an out-of-touch corporate raider.
At this event, held before an enthusiastic crowd of 2,500 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Obama reminded the crowd that Romney said corporations are people, while stumping in Iowa last August during the Republican primary. The president said there may be value in Romneys experience in corporate buyouts, but its not in the White House.
He also noted that the former governor doesnt talk about his record in Massachusetts. Speaking directly to Iowans, Obama used local lingo to slam Romney: Governor Romney came to Des Moines last week and warned of a prairie fire of debt, he said. But he left out some facts. His speech was more like a cow pie of distortion.
Then he quipped, I dont know whose record he twisted the most mine or his.
Obama warned his supporters that this race would be tougher than 2008 and argued that he represents the future and Romney the past. "We don't need another political fight about ending women's right to choose or getting rid of Planned Parenthood," Mr. Obama said as the crowd erupted into cheers.

(21,925 posts)She was proposing that Romney, who has a reputation for being an orderly and disciplined robot is actually much more gaffe-prone than Biden. She showed a recent clip of Romney laughing about a kid's weird hair, oblivious to the recent story about giving a gay kid a forced haircut in high school. Then she showed a clip of Romney at a school today surrounded by students and participating in a lesson where the teacher asked the students for an example of alliteration. Romney's contribution was the sentence "dogs drive Douglas dizzy". Romney used "dogs" and "drive" in the same sentence and was smiling like the village idiot.

I really liked Bashir's final comment about Mitts' non-drinking - it is more important what comes out of your mouth than what you put in it.

(15,682 posts)and if, there is a legal requirement for presidential debate? I'm afraid Romney might just try and wiggle out of debating Obama. The way he won't give interviews it would be indicated, I think.

(33,688 posts)Watching Mittens attempt to hold his own with the POTUS is gonna be more fun than a barrel of half-witted monkeys. Obama will be able to subtly needle Rmoney into saying something monumentally stupid.

(82,849 posts)Oh my stars and garters! That Obama is just so mean to poor Mitt. This will surely give David Gregory, Chuck Todd and the rest of Beltway Insider Crowd such an attack of the vapors. And on a holiday weekend. Oh, the pain and the shame of it all. This will probably be morphed into an insult to the troops or something.
In the meantime, actual voters will surely raise the support level for Obama, who is at last beginning to act like the president we elected him to be.

(18,652 posts)Just heard this reported by a Xtian friend who does work for the poor and is tired of repuglican "family values." She's voting for O this time around. She said one of her redneck Xtian acquaintances was railing against the poor having children when they couldn't afford them, and then coming to Uncle Sam for welfare.
Why are these same Republicans trying to get rid of PP if they're so concerned about the poor not having children?" And why are they so against abortion and contraception?
