Forecast in the Raleigh area has changed: a day or so ago, they were telling us 100% chance of heavy rain for several days in a row, with totals of 8" or more over the weekend; now it's 50-70% for the next few days, with totals of mebbe half an inch

flooding from so much rain. We had a nice (but certainly unusual) week - water on the rental yard never subsided, only one day to walk on the beach - but a bad day at Ocracoke is still better than a great day in Raleigh!

Wet ferry ride yesterday, drive home through rain late afternoon - woke in our own bed dry, safe and sound.

So all good here! We will need to forfeit our second week....but being retired, all we really do is move our life from here to there. So we will resume life here!

I still have power. I don't think I am in an area that can flood but.......
I am not going to walk on the grass. I'm afraid I might disappear.

We gone drown. It's stopped for a minute but it's supposed to get very heavy and rain through tomorrow.
The National Guard is out all over the state.

Looks like our drought is about to end as well - rain all night and still raining - no flood threats as yet - or I haven't heard of them.

Stay safe - how are the kitties enjoying their first storm?
I knew rain was coming two days ago when one of the ferals brought her three very young kittens into the cat box on the patio. Animals have powers we can dream about.

And it's rained most of the morning, stopped, and started back up again. I think it's gonna be like that most of the day. My yard is so soggy.

I've seen the sun for about 7 hours in the past 10 days: 6 hours and 50 minutes of it this past wednesday, when it was sticker and muggier than it's been all long, torrid summer long.

What a rotten way to get gypped out of our autumn.

Still have power, phones, satellite TV,; it's wet and windy but no flooding around us (not that I've heard). I did get an automated call about possible flooding, a first for any weather situation.

The cat and her kittens aren't happy about the rain, but that's how it goes with outdoor animals. I don't the chickens even know anything is going on.

We got lucky because the storm moved eastward.
