Millis officer to face charges in alleged false report.

MILLIS — The part-time Millis police officer who fabricated an account of being shot at by a white man in a pickup truck was identified Friday as Bryan Johnson, a 24-year-old resident who was on the verge of becoming a full-time member of the small force.

Johnson will face four criminal charges in Wrentham District Court stemming from his allegedly false claim that he crashed a Millis Police Department SUV on Wednesday after he was fired at by the pick-up driver. The timing of his court appearance was not clear Friday.

Acting Millis Police Chief William Dwyer, who identified Johnson, said his department was applying for four charges in court: misleading a police investigation, providing false information to emergency services, malicious destruction of property, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Johnson’s claim of exchanging gunfire with the driver along Forest Road triggered a massive response by heavily armed police who cordoned off parts of the town for hours on Wednesday and led the town to close public schools on Thursday as a precaution.

Well, except for the whole lying thing he's a great person.

"The part-time Millis police officer who fabricated an account of being shot at by a white man in a pickup truck was identified Friday as Bryan Johnson, a 24-year-old resident who was on the verge of becoming a full-time member of the small force."

...snip...

"Asked if Johnson was remorseful, Dwyer said, “I’m going to say I’m sure he is. I know him personally. Again, I’m not going to retreat from the the fact that I thought he was going to be a great addition to our police department. He’s a great person. I’m sure this is a very tough situation for him as well as it is for our department.”

Yep, it is really tough to be called out for being a liar.

But he did just lose his expected career and became a national joke. It's a tough situation, although it is entirely of his own making. At least he didn't kill anybody, his made up story didn't implicate a minority, and his story unraveled pretty quickly mitigating the harm somewhat.

But let's examine how low the bar is now:

At least he didn't kill anybody, his made up story didn't implicate a minority, and his story unraveled pretty quickly mitigating the harm somewhat.

I mean wow. He didn't kill anyone and he didn't try to abuse minorities is the best thing we can see in this?

No offense at all to you mythology for stating the obvious. It just makes me sad.
