Boy Who Couldn’t Afford Books Asks Mailman For Junk Mail To Read; Mailman Responds Spectacularly

I know this is probably lounge material but I just think it should resonate with everyone. The mailman is a great guy but that the kid didn't really have access to a free library should affect us all. Sometimes I hate what we have become. No compassion. Compassion is another word for being weak. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/boy-asks-mailman-junk-mail-books-read_55b6b002e4b0224d88338ba4

I love this video of a brother hugging/kissing his little brother, he don't care about how it looks to his friends, he loves his little brother. We all should strive to be so compassionate at least once in a while..

and I'd read anything when I was done with all my books: can labels, cereal boxes, toilet paper packages, anything.

I really sympathize with this kid and if I had any Kenneth Roberts books I'd definitely send them along to him. They're perfect for 12 year old boys.

COULD YOU REALLY HAVE A WAR?

If you saw humanity in others,
Could you really have a war?
If no one was willing to fight
You’d have to close the door.

If you saw others as your brothers,
If you were interested in their customs,
If you could see your common ground,
If you thought of them as friends,
If you weren’t concerned with being "right",
If you didn’t feel the need to judge,
If you wanted to give and share instead of take,
If you had tolerance and patience,
If you had faith, hope, charity, and love,
If you knew that they did too,
If you could see life through their eyes,
If you saw connection instead of fearing difference,
If you didn’t see through the eyes of good and bad,
If you didn’t need to impose your views on others,
If you valued their lives as much as yours,
If you exercised love instead of hatred.
If you understood we’re all just versions of each other,

Could you really have a war?

And I can't help tearing up on watching that video.

The way the Marine grabs that kid instinctively and hugs him so strong just gets to me every time. And when he kisses him it just goes ten times stronger. I just love that video.

I really posted about a kid that needs to read junk mail for reading material but I still love that video.
