40 degrees, sunny, and not a flake of snow on the green grass in southeast Michigan.

(18,402 posts)I'm not getting too smug about the mild winter we've had so far, because there are still three months ahead, and predictions were that my area (Chicago) was going to have really bad weather this winter.
I've set my expectations on low so that anything better than constant frigid stop-down blizzards will seem very nice to me.

(18,402 posts)You've got the wrong person! Since I seem to be one of the rare people in this country who doesn't care a whit about football, I wish you luck! May the best team win (though I won't care which it is).

(44,573 posts)I've become accustomed to not expecting really cold weather until January -- though we did get more than a foot of snow here LAST Christmas Day.

(592 posts)We have not had much snow... and really compared to the winters of the 70s this is very very mild.
Growing up here in the 60s and 70s... 30 below..40 below were not uncommon and even a couple 50 below nights occasionally.
Now if we get 20 below it is "unusually" cold.
I am sure we will have a few monster snow storms in January and February... but winters have really gotten much easier up here over the last couple of decades.
GO LIONS!!
