People are looking for answers when it comes to the death of Sandra Bland. Bland, a 28-year-old Illinois native, was road-tripping to Texas to start her new job at Prairie View A&M University. But she never made it. Bland was pulled over for allegedly failing to use a signal to switch lanes. It was that traffic stop during which the cop alleged she became combative, and she was arrested and charged with assault on a public servant.

Three days later, Bland was found dead in her jail cell. Authorities allege that Bland hanged herself, but Blands family and friends arent buying that story. And neither is social media.

(2,337 posts)I just heard about this case. I have trouble believing that the police would risk blatantly murdering someone just because. Is there some info out there which makes it more obvious? I don't buy the whole police killed her cause she's black and they wanted to angle. There has to be something more.
Edit: apparently she asphyxiated. Does that mean she was found hanging, or something else?

(68 posts)Anyone dying in general well health in under 3 days is pretty suspect. NOBODY deserves a death sentence for not bowing down to a cop. To say this isn't racially motivated is pretty wishful thinking.

(2,337 posts)She had posted videos online about dealing with depression before this. Combined with moving away from her old residence to another town, along with the thought of the arrest jeapordizing her life in some way, suicide seems like a definite possibility. cameras filming the entrance to her cell show nobody coming in or out in the hour in which her death occured. Together, that strikes me as slightly more substantial than wishful thinking. The fbi is investigating now. I'm sure we'll have the truth soon.

(2,337 posts)Tampering will be immediately evident when the fbi reviews this, and it will likely be the first thing they look at. I doubt some local cop has the knowhow and resources to see less fake video surveillance record on short notice though.
Makes me so angry.
