putting this in general discussion because Stern is a mysogynist pigAmericas Got Talent ratings take a dive with Howard Stern debut
Howard Stern (Evan Agostini - AP) About 10.3 million people tuned in to watch Howard Sterns debut on NBCs competition series Americas Got Talent Monday night, according to early stats.
Last year, when the show debuted later in May, on a Tuesday, it had clocked 15.3 million viewers.
Thats a 33 percent plunge.
Among 18-49 year old viewers who are the currency of NBC ad sales, Sterns Talent season kickoff clocked 3.6 rating. That means just under 4 percent of the countrys viewers in that age bracket tuned in.
Last years debut did a 4.3 rating. Thats a 16 percent dive.

(7,429 posts)It was also against Dancing with the Stars on ABC, Monday comedies on CBS, Bones season finale on FOX. That's something that America's Got Talent never goes up against. It's the reason why it remains a Summer show. It can't really compete with the big guys during the Spring

Contestants are confronted by toilets with various prizes in them. Also, human waste. They must then decide whether or not they want to fish the items out with their bare hands.

(31,011 posts)Howard Stern was better than I thought he'd be. I liked it. This is the only reality show we watch here.

(15,189 posts)I HATE those shows. I feel they are ALL rigged. Survivor proved that in the 90's.

(44,397 posts)I haven't either.
I despise commercial television, for the most part it is horrid.
I'd check one out if anything sounded remotely interesting. My job beats anything on TV when it comes to "reality."

(10,618 posts)It could also be that people are just getting sick of the show in general, or that there are alternatives they prefer.
This is rather like the headline that says: "Stock Market Plunges after Mel Gibson's Second DUI."

(11,446 posts)I watched 1/2 of it and I thought the show itself was lame with the talent and that isn't his fault. He was fine.
