NALC food drive Saturday!
Yes, it is that time again, the annual food drive by the National Association of Letter Carriers.
I urge you all to give- and to give generously! This is an important time of year. School is almost out, and for some kids, that is the only place where they eat.
Some of the food bank workers that I have talked to (being a retired member of Branch #47 in Denver) have told me that their clientele has changed. Formerly for the truly poor, but now including the working class poor.
Items such as peanut butter and canned fish are nutritious items for all.
Just leave them in a visible place for your carrier, preferably not too early before their arrival. Yes, food has been stolen off porches, also.
