How about if we had no federal government...

Just 50 sovereign states with different demographics and resources and goals and interests, but who all use the US dollar and share some macro-policy goals.

But each state issues bonds and incurs debt... but only in US dollars.

And the FED would continue to run monetary policy for all 50 states.

Would that work?
