Anyone here seriously think Amendment 1 would NOT pass?

I mean, this is Jesse Helm's state, for crying out loud.
He's dead, but his people are still in power and are still majority voters.

1. I don't get it either

why all the shock, this is expected from a southern state like NC. I bet all the southern states would vote the same way.

4. When did California become a Southern state?

didn't prop 8 get voted in there or was that just RW propaganda?

I think you missed a few spots with that broad brush.

2. Incorrect in the broad brush.

Democrats are the largest political party. Republicans haven't held the legislature since reconstruction until 2010. Polling put the overall population as favoring same sex marriage or civil unions at 53%.

3. I just don't understand why people are so callous.

I know it is today's reality, but to hurt good people simply because voters are warped and can, just doesn't seem right.

5. Actually given this is a primary

And primaries have lower voting turn outs, it explains why these radical things are usually put in primaries.

Now Prop 8 on November of 2008, that was shocking, until you look a what proponents ran.
