German Televangelist says everyone on the airliner deliberately crashed were sinnners...

Then desperately tries to cover up what he said.

Christian Pastor: The Passengers on Germanwings Flight 9525 Deserved to Die Because They’re Sinners

April 27, 2015 by Hemant Mehta 115 Comments

About a month ago, Germanwings flight 9525 crashed in the French Alps, killing all 150 people on board. As we’ve since learned, co-pilot Andreas Lubitz locked the other pilot out of the cockpit when he went on a bathroom break, and then purposely drove the plane into the mountains on a suicide mission (taking everyone else along with him). Just an awful, awful tragedy.

German televangelist Wolfgang Wegert apparently spoke about the crash last week during a sermon — just two days after the public funeral — and made a stunning declaration (translated below):

… when people die, be it in an old folks home or in a plane crash, they die because they are guilty.

Maybe this needs to be cut from the broadcast.

But it is still true: When people die, be it in an old folks home or in a plane crash, they die because they are guilty. Because, due to our sin, we all deserve death. Without delay. Our question should not be “Why did they die?”… but rather “Why are we still alive?”

5. If every one should die as soon as they are determined sinners

Then shouldn't all babies die as soon as they are born since everyone is born in sin according to some Christians? Or maybe even as soon as they are conceived? By his lights, abortion should be a holy act since it kills potential sinners!

Fundamentalist Christians have a serious lack of logical thinking. Or they are all just plain crazy.

One of the foundations of their belief is "universal depravity" which means that everybody is wholly loathsome and deserving of eternal torture.

9. The religion does teach 'all have sinned, the wages of sin are death'.

Hard to argue that. It's the theology. Of course the faithful do not like their faith plain spoken. They like to gloss over the rough bits, edit out the bits that are strict toward themselves and conclude that the bits that say 'gays are bad' are the unalterable Word of God.

And that is the fertile ground from which religious thought stems.

Biology has better answers, but for preachers it's best to focus on the sin part.
