Big callout for the President, I hoped Ed doesn't quit his day job.

(13,877 posts)won't get an interview. Pretty sure he's not going to work from their list, but I could be wrong.

(37,152 posts)for its coverage of the TPP. As Bernie said, none of the other networks are covering it still,
Great segment!

(54,770 posts)Pipeline. Then a bunch of MSNBC viewers got on him, and he changed his mind quickly. I do agree with him, but it just shows he's not particularly nuanced or knowledgeable.
About a week ago, Ed was going on about this "New dispute mechanism WHICH WE HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE would let companies usurp a nation's 'national sovereignty'. . . . . ." and basically take over the world.
One of the guests was telling Ed that most trade agreements had pretty much the same dispute mechanism for decades, even NAFTA, and that Obama was trying to insert improvements that would avoid any frivolous disputes, and the like.
Ole Ed was yelling and calling her a liar, saying that's just not true . . . . . . One of Ed's cherry-picked commenters -- who always strokes his ego -- tried telling Ed it's true NAFTA has it and Obama is trying to improve it. But, Ed kept saying I don't believe that is true.
I used to like him, but his emotional rants just get old. Tonight, his blustering -- "By God, I'll debate Obama, just get him on here . . . . ." -- and yelling was a bit much.

(75,480 posts)They were just calling it what it was, a weasel deal that needs a lot more explanation and facts presented.

(75,480 posts)vote on the floor. I watch Bernie every week on Thom Hartmann and that was a genuine, "I like what you are saying", grin. Ed and Bernie have been very close to the ground on this deal and they are not criticizing the President as much as they are trying to dissuade him from what seems to be some very bad advice that he's getting.

(10,005 posts)needs. We make hardily anything we need, just look in Walmart or Dollar General. We are trying to get the world to buy our stuff.
They are telling us, "We no longer need your stuff" and quit bugging us about our way of doing things. That's what TPP is about.

(75,480 posts)say that the Asian markets the President said we would be selling our goods to wouldn't be a reality. Instead the stuff being sold in China would be made in China. Whatever we still make here would be made in Asia instead once this deal goes through. We get nothing in the way of jobs or trade balance. I was alive in 1947 and we should try to get back there because things were better for the average working class family.

(75,480 posts)no bank today will help you and even if you succeed in being able to undercut the wholesale prices of the Asian imports, they will buy you out or make sure you go bankrupt. The laws are not in your favor and that is what Ed and Bernie are trying to fight back at.

(75,480 posts)would be in place today. I can't even afford a regular hybrid today and doubt very much if a driverless car is anything most of us can look forward to owning today. In 1947, my parents could look forward to the latest auto innovations.
