He's new to trucking and could get no response to his CB, so announced "I voted for Obama" (which he probably didn't) "and I'm voting for Hillary" (which he probably will). He got lots of responses and was horrified at both the attitudes and language of so many of the other drivers, at least the ones who responded. He says meeting/listening to right-wingers is opening his eyes.
Truckers, is it really that bad?

(23,292 posts)His son spent years in Afghanistan and Iraq. The son was a die-hard Republican also. While his son was gone, he seemed to get worse for awhile. I talked to both of them recently and their tune has changed. No more rhetoric or talking points. They realize they've been had, I think.

Please tell your Son to be careful. Today on my least favorite stretch of road in the US (I-80 from Cheyenne to Laramie) there was a 70 vehicle pile-up.
Driving was awesome though. Most people don't realize that if you bought it, a truck brought it.
Good luck to your Son!

(543 posts)Probably also wanted an argument. He's something of a rebel, wich I think is why he was right-leaning in the first place. He became a Christian and a Republican - that'll show Mom and Dad. 48 is a bit old to still rebel. Meeting those from the other side is making an impression.
