You Might Be A Ron Paul Supporter If...

1. Youíve never researched Ron Paulís voting record.

2. You think itís OK for businesses to discriminate against people based on their race, since Ron Paul thinks the Civil Rights Act is unconstitutional.

3. Youíre a supporter of the white supremacist organization StormFront.org, which has repeatedly endorsed and stated their support for Ron Paul.

4. You donít care that Ron Paul was the ONLY congressman who voted against granting subpoena power to the independent panel responsible for investigating the BP oil spill.

5. You donít like clean air and water, since Ron Paul wants to eliminate the EPA.

6. You donít want to have a safety net in place, in case your house is destroyed by a tornado, hurricane, or some other natural disaster, since Ron Paul wants to eliminate FEMA.

7. You think all schools should be private, and that you should have to pay for your children to get an education, since Ron Paul wants to eliminate the Department of Education.

8. You think corporations should be allowed to do whatever they want, because Ron Paul wants to eliminate all regulations on corporations.

9. You are anti-choice, since Ron Paul believes that states should have the right to take away a womanís choice over what she does with her body.

10. You support segregation, since Ron Paul doesnít think schools should be forced to allow attendance based on race or ethnic background.

11. You support guns on airplanes, since Ron Paul thinks that 9/11 could have been prevented, if citizens were allowed to carry guns on airplanes.

12. You oppose equality for LGBT people, since Ron Paul doesnít think the federal government should guarantee equal protection under the law for our LGBT brothers and sisters.

13. You donít have a problem with people carrying guns near schools, since Ron Paul want to repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act.

14. You oppose same-sex marriage, since Ron Paul was an original co-sponsor of the Marriage Protection Act in the House of Representatives, in 2004.

15. You donít like having a good relationship with other countries around the world, since Ron Paul wants the United States to pull out of the United Nations.

...etc...

The rest: http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/02/15/u-might-be-a-ron-paul-supporter-if/

...#1 is my personal favorite. The rest are pretty much superfluous.

5. I dealt online with a Paulbot many years ago

One of the "Government bad! Freedom Good!" parrots. It took the better part of a week hammering on him, but he finally, grudgingly admitted that it was probably a good idea to have a government health department do restaurant inspections to ensure safe food handling procedures. Within 72 hours, as I recall, he was back to his default setting, but I scored it a personal victory.

11. I've had the same argument with a Ayn Rand adherent

His solution is: if you get poisoned and die, your relatives will sue the farm/packager/restaurant and they won't do it any more since they don't want to get sued and have to pay damages. The fact is you are dead at the end of the process, but that seemed to him a better outcome than a health department inspector.

20. Yeah, that's why it took a week

We walked through the whole idea that going out to eat at a restaurant probably shouldn't be a life or death decision. Then we walked through the reasons why it probably wasn't a good idea to let restaurants police themselves. Then we walked through the idea of public health, and the inevitable lag between when the first patron would be poisoned and when the free market would finally shut the restaurant down (if it did). Then we walked through the non-public part of the civil lawsuit process, and how so many settlements require non-disclosure by the parties. Then we walked through the likelihood of serial offenders simply closing a restaurant in the southeast part of town only to open another ptomaine emporium in the northwest part of town the next week.

It was exhausting, and as I said, the lesson didn't take, but it was enough for me at the time.

36. It's a cult, oblivious to reflection and reason. Everything that doesn't agree with their sweet...

Little Moses who came down from the mountain with a Constitution written in stone (no amendments after the first 10) and a halo around his head, their much needed daddy figure, will be filtered out.

They have all the enthusiasm and sales ability of a newly converted zealot. And you cannot take that little bright light away from them...

Or else they explode. After overcoming their rationalizations, a lot of fairy dust flakes off and they start name calling.

Good luck getting anything through. I applaud your patience.

48. I am going to say something really crazy

But restaurants are not in the business of poisioning their customers. I grew up in Nigeria where restaurants police themselves and I am talking regular restaurants all the way to mobile restaurants that service food from the pan on top of their head and we dont experience a noticeable problems with unhealthy foods.

I know Nigeria is not exactly the most wonderful country in the world but watch Bizzare food or cant remember the other food show on the food channel that showcases food from exotic countries. Most places in the world operate just fine without food inspectors. The greatest motivation these people have is to have a good reputation and keep their customers coming back for more and you dont accomplish that serving up rubbish food ofc unless that is what the customer wants.

51. This is true of small businesses, not big ones.

As long as the seller doesn't have more power than the buyer in the community as a whole, self-policing can work. Self-policing fails in the presence of large power differentials, which is to say in most societies economic differentials.

52. Doesnt make any sense

The bigger the business means they have more at stake giving them even a bigger reason to maintain a clean house. Its not like they cannot easily pack up and leave once they kill a bunch of people. Self policing fails when an entity has no stake/ownership in item being protected. An example of this are oil companies/mineral extraction compaines who leave an area when their extraction is done. This is not the case with restaurants of any size

49. I finally gave up reasoning with the idiots

when one actually came around and agreed with me, then a few days later forgot we ever had the discussion in the first place. She came up to me and told me the exact same thing that had caused the whole discussion in the first place. When I told her we had already talked about it at length she gave me a blank stare and told me she didn't remember ever talking to me about it before.

In one ear, out the other. I've never wasted my time like that again. I let them have their say and just ignore it.

As a dedicated teacher with an education, many with years of extra education to keep up on the latest innovations for helping your students...

Ron Paul seeks a law to stop payment of Federal Education funds in any State that would require licensing or certification of private schools or private school teachers.

...and then vote for paul.

24. Ron Paul is a faux Libertarian ...

Just like all of the followers of American libertarianism.

They don't understand that the "original" libertarianism (via Europe) came from the left-wing, and more specifically, the socialist school of thought.

It's a fool's errand to debate with a Paulbot. They don't understand that:

"An individual is nothing without society, and society is nothing without the individual." ~ unattributed

26. I've encountered

a few Paulbots and they are very persistent, often sounding like a broken record. Its almost cult-like. To some degree, they remind me of some Kucinich supporters in the last election. I know I've probably pissed a few people off by saying that, but I see a lot of similarities in the almost blind devotion and inability to listen to alternate points of view.

Until the last few years, I had always seen libertarianism more as a left-wing movement and often embraced some of their ideas. Now it is just a convenient tag to sometimes justify people's intolerance.

It's like, why don't they just call themselves "Republicans" and be done with it? Why quarter-step? YOU'RE REPUBLICANS!! Everything about their philosophies, economics, foreign policy, feelings on public services, health care, education, taxation, women's rights, LGBTQI rights, etc are so in tune with Republican rhetoric, it's a wonder they don't start eating Jelly Bellies and saying "There you go again".

End the drug war, do as the majority of Americans want and legalize marijuana.. At the very least stop harassing cancer grannies for getting high..

The only people who that would piss off are the drug warriors on the gravy train and the far right social authoritarians, neither of whom are big obama demographics anyway. Even the fiscal conservatives see the folly of pending $60 billion a year to fill our prisons with pot smokers.

Some of my liberal friends and acquaintances have at some point expressed liking Paul's positions. This is almost always because they've heard his controversial and outspoken opinions on foreign policy and dis-engaging militarily from the rest of the world (which I have to admit I agree with to a large extent). But when I inform them on the rest of his positions and voting record, they become appalled quite quickly.

45. Many of them only hear the "legalize pot, end wars" mantra.

Which I'm all for. Never gonna happen. The privitized correctional lobby and the military industrial complex supporters in congress, which is almost all of them, would shoot these proposals all down and Paul knows it. He might as well be promising them all unicorns. But, the ones that blow me away are the genuine anti-government spending Libertarians. Paul talks the anti-big government talk in ear-screeching decibels. But, the facts are different. He's against federal disaster assistance. Yet, when Hurricane Ike hit Galveston, he had his hand out for FEMA disaster funds. He's taken tax-payer money for his district for everything from trash cans to decorative street lighting. He spent 30 million refurbishing a Maritime Academy ship; 2.4 million renovating an old movie theater in Edna that closed in 1977; 8 million in shrimp fishing research. The list goes on. I know that one site talked about spending 30 million or so to build an addition to a Baptist Church community hall and I don't know how that passed the church/state smell test. This year, he'll get 400 million dollars from the government and 65 earmarks. Hey, you can't keep getting re-elected to be Representative if you don't bring your constituents the goods. But, he's a hypocrite of the highest order in trying to preach a gospel of Libertarianism.

if you're against a woman's right to choose, then how much are you going to set aside to budget the very government you so badly want out of the business of intruding in people's lives so that you have the government at the ready to enforce said woman not having the right to choose?

If you're against same sex marriages, then how much are you going to set aside to budget the very government you so badly want out of the business of intruding in people's lives in order to make sure that those same sex couples cannot obtain licenses, get married, etc.?

I mean, in order for him to realize his "dream", he's going to have to grow government in order to make it happen.

He's such a stupid, doddering old fool...
