How did this woman ever get a CEO position? Easy to understand why she was a failure however with this mindset.
Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, who is expected to announce a campaign for president, said over the weekend that she could improve the economy by cutting federal worker pay because they were watching porn all day long.
In a Sunday interview with Fox News host Chris Wallace, Fiorina said that there was a higher than 90 percent chance that she would become a Republican presidential candidate.
The former HP CEO explained that she would make a formidable candidate because I understand technology: a transformational tool, because I understand bureaucracies, how they work and how you need to change them. And our government is a huge bureaucracy.

(14,733 posts)Hint. If 'federal workers are watching porn all day', then so are private sector workers. And in either case, your IT people can be used to prevent much (most?) of that sort of behaviour, if your workers aren't using personal tablets or phones to do it.

(20,833 posts)Most federal places have computer systems where you don't have actual control of your computer. Security can watch everything you do without you knowing it. The number one security violation IS WATCHING PORN. You will get one warning and the next time you will get fired. Of the federal places I've worked no one watches porn at work and the computer system is rather draconic in preventing that. Why? Well, those sites are the number one source for hackers to download stuff on your computer. As far as I know many states also have rather draconic rules for porn watching at work. Once again she claims to be an expert but knows nothing about modern computer security at many government installations.

Still employed, although suspended, and still collecting about $120,000 a year.
Remember the Deepwater Horizon disaster? Hard to prevent it if the staff is busy taking Meth and watching porn. At least that was the conclusion of the Inspector General's report.

(36,827 posts)Freedom of Information Act rules pretty much insure that those employees who behave badly and get caught are fair game for the media.
So the question becomes how many is "many"? 1%, .001%, .0001%? Whatever the number is, there's a good chance it's far lower than private industry.

Politically she is a wacko. She is extremely anti-abortion and deregulation
There is a reason California voted her down. She is a radical right winger in sheep clothing
Just her comment about public workers in the OP gives you some idea about her thinking process
She fits in with the republicans today perfectly

They've all seen how Sarah Palin manages to bilk the stupids and make a mint by pretending to consider running and saying just enough outrageous shit to keep her name in the headlines.

(27,101 posts)How is cutting their salary going to get them to stop watching porn?
If anything, it would encourage me to watch MORE porn.
(If I watched porn at work, which I most certainly do NOT!!!)
I mean seriously, a CEO's solution to workers "watching porn all day" is to cut their pay?!?!?
As the OP said, no wonder she washed out of the business world.

I don't know why more people can't see how dangerous and extreme the right wing has become. This country is really going down the tube.

(5,168 posts)The QUOTE is: "You can watch porn all day long, and get paid exactly the same way as somebody who's trying to do their job."
I actually watched the interview when it aired, so I knew it wasn't quite what Raw Story claims. I have no problem with getting government workers to do their jobs, but that's a problem no matter who is president.

(82,849 posts)The entirety of my working life, from 1980 on, workers have been putting in more hours, working more efficiently and productively, and private sector revenues have gone steadily up, thanks to the Wealth that Labor has been creating. Strange, though, that worker pay has remained practically stagnant adjusted for inflation during that entire time.
Where has all that Wealth gone if not into the pockets of the workers who created it by the strain of their muscles and the sweat of their brows? By the way, how much money did Carly Fiorina "earn" when she left Hewlett-Packard at the behest of its board? What did she do to earn that tidy little sum, except release the death grip of her greedy little mitts from the controls of the corporation?

This from the bitch that personally ruined HP.
