****WCGreen Update --Thursday, March 19, 2015****

A Christopher Green update from his wife:

I called to check on Chris on Sunday, and was transferred to the nurse manager. She said they were supposed to call me Saturday night (no missed calls on my phone), because Chris was transferred back to the clinic Saturday at 4:00 am. I think the easiest way to say why is that it was too much for them.

I went to see Chris yesterday and they were weaning him from the vent, gave him a sip test and are going to do a barium swallow - which if ok, he will be able to eat and talk. Yeah! At first I was upset about the move, but as I thought about it, I know he is in very good hands at the clinic. He is in an ICU, G 50, bed 6.

FYI: Laurie was away visiting friends when this happened.

His complete address: Cleveland Clinic, 9500 Euclid Avenue, G 50-6, Cleveland OH 44195

What good news! I guess they want to keep a close eye on him while they transition him-better to err on the side of caution.

However, getting transferred from the rehab hospital back to the acute care hospital is more problematic. I hope he will progress more smoothly being at the Clinic. It IS smart to be cautious!

while he transitions from a ventilator to breathing on his own that there's someone there to monitor him carefully during the process? And maybe ensure he doesn't choke while re-learning to eat? I had a relative who had a stroke--didn't need a ventilator, but did need to go to eating school for a week or so--once he got past that, we were able to go to his rehab hospital and have dinner with him.

I know they're more noodgy at the acute care joint, but maybe that's a good thing, short term?

Hopefully once they assure themselves he's not in breathing distress and can chow down without problems they'll send him back to rehab...?

I hope, anyway! He's been through the mill, poor guy...!

I think his wife doesn't. It looks like they're just being cautious.

I am really hoping your interpretation is correct!

It's been such a long haul that I've just had a look see through his DU journal. How we need Chris' insight.

I keep thinking I wonder what Chris would say about this situation, or that one. He always knew how to interpret current events.

to make light of this post, which obviously contains wonderful news for Chris and all his friends, here and elsewhere.

But at first glance, I thought the header was: '****Pfc Wintergreen', i.e. the radio operator in Catch 22, who interrupted a phone-call between General Dreedle and another senior officer, in which, when Dreedle, asked,'Who ever heard of a millionaire poet!' Wintergreen interjected: 'T S Eliot...'; and the outraged Dreedle roared, 'Who said that?'
