going off my meds, because I can't keep shelling out the amount that goes up every month. My family has enough burdens.

I order meds (illegally? semi-legally?) from overseas when there are ridiculous price discrepancies with their US-made counterparts. It's something maybe to consider...

Rather than demanding we get the same prices other countries do.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say insurance is driving our drug prices up. If the insurers will reimburse 50 dollars for a prescription that costs about 1 dollar to produce and ship per 30 day supply, why wouldn't the drug companies charge as much as they can?

And since they basically have a captive audience (most with insurance of some sort), they have a nice little economic scam going on.

While my mother was alive, I'd order most of her meds from Canada. This was before part D of Medicare went into effect. At the time I ordered, you had to order an unopened bottle. There was a web site that told show many pills were in the sealed bottle for most prescription medications. I would make a list of the meds she needed and the quantity required to order from Canada. Then I'd have her doctor write the prescription for the number of pills in the unopened bottle. I only bought the cheapest generics locally. We ended up saving about $200 a month doing this. I don't know if this method is still around.

You should talk to your doctor about this. Nearly every drug will be deeply discounted before they will let you go without..
