Another "Gang that couldn't shoot straight" bust of "terrorists"

Hey, find some idiots, infiltrate the group, and start talking real explosives, even set up a sale for the "terrorists," then bust them for terrorism. This story stinks to high heaven:

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/01/11485641-5-anarchists-nabbed-in-plot-to-blow-up-ohio-bridge?lite

Federal agents have arrested five people who were plotting to blow up a bridge near Cleveland, Ohio, an incident not connected to the anniversary of former al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden's death, officials say.

Douglas L. Wright, 26, Brandon L. Baxter, 20, and Anthony Hayne, 35, were arrested by members of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force on April 30 on charges of conspiracy and attempted use of explosive materials to damage physical property affecting interstate commerce. Also arrested were Connor C. Stevens, 20, and Joshua S. Stafford, 23. Charges are pending against them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The five were "controlled by an undercover FBI employee," and agents had them under extensive surveillance for a long period of time. The explosives they allegedly purchased were inoperable.

Further telling that charges are still pending for two of these clowns. But yet we're told there was no danger. So why the rush?

Probably the FBI "controllers" knew exactly what to do to bump them up from young kids just blowing bravado, to actually plotting a bombing event. It's sad, the ruined lives, all for political gain.

arrest conspiracy suspects when they perform a definitive act in furtherence of that conspiracy ... there is no "better" act than the pressing the button on a remote detonation device.

The only problem I would have is if the FBI handlers had suggested or encouraged this date.

Instead of a bunch of kids blowing smoke? I'm pretty sure that the agents who "controlled" these "terrorists" controlled them right on into purchasing the fake explosives.

This is bullshit entrapment and we all know it.

The kids first wanted to knock over some signage. When the FBI got "control" of them, they turned to blowing up a bridge! And who got the "explosives" for them? You know......the fake ones?

Get real. These kids were set up. Their lives will be ruined. All so that Americans will think they're being "protected."

Was pour jet fuel over the bridge, and light a match. I'm sure it would have melted in no time. If fire can take down a building at 10 stories a second, this bridge should have gone down a lot faster. No explosives needed anymore, just fire will do.

in the same result; 5 people under arrest.

Where do you suppose they were to get the quantity of jet fuel needed to pull that plan off?

1. Metal doesn't have to melt in order to weaken. Case in point, while steel melts at upwards of 2,000 degrees, it becomes soft and malleable at a much lower temperature.

2. A skyscraper is a machine for staying upright. Once a single piece of it fails catastrophically, the rest is likely to go as well, with each floor below it destroyed by the impact.

If somebody is approached by a stranger wanting to help him blow something up, he should just say he will be targeting something Liberal or IRS-related like those right-wing terrorists did in the last few years.

Then he probably won't get arrested, and CERTAINLY won't be labeled a "terrorist" (and subject to the harsher punishment that brings).

"Here's a story that kinda punches a hole in the loony right's "all Muslims are terrorists" meme. The FBI sends an infiltrator in to a mosque in California and when he starts preaching jihad, members of the mosque turned him in to the FBI and got a restraining order against him.

there was some other band of muslim wannabe crazies in Florida (iirc) that the FBI put away for life after a terror plot sting...And like the story in the OP, these folks couldn't tie their own shoelaces either, much less orchestrate a big terror act
