When the target is a fellow Democrat they don't like.
Slam Hillary for her policies you don't like. That is fine. But don't fall for right-wing traps designed to smear any Democrats.
The revelling by some on here over the fake email scandal hurts all Democrats in the long run.

(43,049 posts)There is an annoying group that insists on proving that it, and it alone, is the trustee of all that is good and Democratic.
Sad enough that they exist, but even sadder is that they often don't even agree among themselves.
And then there are those who just can't help but start at least one argument a day. Even if there's nothing worth arguing about, they'll find something.
You have met such people in real life? They're worse when they are anonymous and don't have to be personally responsible for their thoughts and words.

(46,416 posts)email accounts to conduct ALL of her government business--at least one account appears to have been started just prior to her taking office at State. Yes, Jebbie Bush and Walker and other Repubs are guilty of private email usage as well. But that doesn't make Clinton's actions somehow better. It's doubtful she truly broke any laws, unless there were classified info/documents going in and out of her private accounts. But ethically...not good.

(6,578 posts)There was nothing illegal, or wrong about what she did, at the time she did it.

(46,416 posts)Especially the illegal/ethics part. And then consider these questions: Why did she set up (and why did the administration allow) and exclusively use a private email system just for herself and her staff, right at the very beginning of her tenure and continuing through all four years? Four years of complete personal control and ZERO government oversight of much of her state dept. day to day business. WHO had access to this account(s)? What controls are in place to ensure that if an email or document is legally requested, it is being provided (and not "lost" or deleted" or "not found" by the staff that apparently controls the content)? HOW was this all secured from hacking?

(43,867 posts)this seems like a good time to remember another pattern of behavior: namely, that of the Times. I remember clear as a bell reading that initial Jeff Gerth story on Whitewater back in March 1992. It seemed devastating. It took many millions of dollars and many years and many phony allegations before important parts of Gerths reporting were debunked. But they were. The Clintons did nothing wrong on Whitewater except to be naïve enough to let themselves by chiseled by Jim McDougal.
If they had done something wrong, with all the prosecutorial firepower thrown at them by a prosecutor (Ken Starr) who clearly hated them, dont you think theyd have been indicted? Of course they would have been. But Starr couldnt turn anything up on Whitewater and was about to close down his investigation empty-handed until he got wind of a gal named Monica.
So thats a pattern too. The Times, for those with short memories, has never loved the Clintons. Remember Howell Raines and his ceaseless, thundering editorials against them. And today, it smells like the Times may have been rolled by the Republican staff of the Benghazi panel. And hey, great work by them and Chairman Trey Gowdy to use the nations leading liberal newspaper in this way.

(10,007 posts)using unsecured email for communications in today's Internet environment doesn't strike me as trivial.
I'm not necessarily of the opinion that Hillary should be brought up on charges for the email incident, but the idea that something like this is possible is alarming. That Hillary would knowingly do something like this as Secretary of State betrays a lack of judgement. The excuse that she's a "Luddite" makes it worse - a Presidential candidate should be a bit more aware of cyber threats, given that they are very real and very dangerous.
