One evening she and her 6 yo daughter did a craft project with blue glitter. They cleaned up and even vacuumed when they were finished, but even months later, blue glitter would appear in odd places.

That little girl has a daughter of her own, now, and I threatened not long ago to give her a tube of blue glitter and a bottle of glue. It has become a running joke.

...is hilarious, I wish it were called something else. The very first time I saw glitter equated with herpes, I was quite sure the person who came up with this is not afflicted with this virus. There is nothing funny about herpes. Nothing at all.

You can treat outbreaks as it works itself up to the top of the carpeting, but you can never really get rid of it.
