A note about the Huffington Post...a right wing rag..

Yes, I go there from time to time, and I use some links. .but it is a right wing rag, that pretends to have some kind of open minded ideas about reporting some, yes some progressive slants on the news. It has a wide variety of stories, (a very wide variety) but it is a picture mag, of stories. Since it is pictures, what about those pictures...Every picture of Scott Brown running for senator in the last two elections was a good easy to look at picture with no nasty views or angles..no bad poses, no ugly frowns etc..I watched that because I hate Scott Brown..

I have watched over the last 6 weeks or so, and every picture of Jeb Bush is a kinda presidential pose, with a certain almost halo of light about him..again, no nasty views, no frowns, no flaws, carefully picked pictures that say by their presence....."this guy is a good guy" He should be President of the United States. none of the captions say this, but the pictures do.

Now, at 1:08 on Sunday, March 1,2015, there are 4 pictures of Scott Walker on the front page of the Huffington Post. The captions are unimportant. All the pictures are good ones of Scott Walker, 3 of 4 have that presidential look that that Jeb had a week or so ago. None are poor or ugly pictures....go and look..(they will be gone after this is exposed to them...) It is that view of the Scott Walker pictures,.. that makes a rag...right wing rag.

1. Remember, tens of thousands of potential voters go there each day, perhaps hundreds of thousands..pictures are easy to look at, stories are longer and harder to read....this is an internet thing...people stay and leave quickly..often they look at pictures only.

2. It is not owned by Huffington it is owned by a media conglomerate that paid her $300,000,000 million
3. Most people go to the front page only, and they know that.
4. It attracts people to the front page with that huge variety of stories, many very up to date stories...of all kinds.
5. I have watched the pictures they put up of Obama...they are not often attractive..Often those pictures are and the angles and poses that they choose, are very nasty and mean. That is done on purpose..
6. It is occurred to me that the pictures of Bush and Walker have also had a Presidential look on purpose. They were carefully selected to give a certain point of view of those people...
7. But.....today..was enough...4 pictures of Scott Walker...not one, but 4..all looking good after the publicity that he has been getting..

this is no mistake, they are pushing him. like they pushed Scott Brown..and Jeb Bush for the last few weeks. (and will push Bush in the future..unless they change..perhaps it will...
8. Some of the stories may have negativity in them, but the pictures say much more....(look at some of the pictures there of O Reilly, some of those are pretty ugly)
9. Many independents go there thinking that it is a fair news source. Since it does show the progressive side of things from time to time and since it seems from time to time to be independent and fair with progressive slants on some stories..

Yes, some stories are ok, and non political. But the pictures on the front page, in my opinion, say far more than the rest of it.

The truth is, for all her populist talk, Arianna Huffington is just another former GOP that got thrown out, then decided to hop on the Democratic lifeboat. Then, sadly, like many Blue Dogs, she insisted that after her right wing ship sank itself, she be made the captain of the ship.

Mar 2015

It switched overnight after the sale.

I always felt that if Ariana Huffington had been a true liberal she wouldn't have sold (out) and stiffed all her volunteer aggregators — I mean she could have shared some of that $300 M with the people that made the site a success.

And it's not like she, already rich, was hurting for money.

Now, I am saying it tries to look "liberal" but is basically at its roots, what it really wants to do in my opinion, is promote and ultimately support conservative points of view....oh, and make as much money as possible..for AOL. Whatever works, works..So appear to present all points of view, and all kind of stories, but in the end, push in a subtle way, the right wing view..

I watched the stories about Scott Brown. Those stories were positive and flattering. As were the pictures. As we get used to Walker and Rand Paul running, I think the exact same will happen. AOL is not interested in electing anyone who could remotely affect their bottom line. ..see my post on what AOL is...post 25..

If Arianna was not one of the main voices that would speak for rightwing causes back when she was welcome as a GOP. She was loud and proud about cutting social programs. it is one thing to be a former Republican, as Hillary Clinton and Liz Wareen both are, but it is another to act like you have seen the light when you were clearly THROWN OUT.

My computer is older, I don't have Adobe Flash installed, I've blocked a couple of the more obnoxious advertising servers (no, not all of them, I think most "free" site owners do deserve advertising revenues) but Huffington Post simply times out or otherwise tries to punish me for that. They simply became unreadable, stalling my browser occasionally, so I blocked them.

But yeah, they're owned, just as NPR is frequently owned, and most mass media is.

But your comment helps me understand how you come to your conclusions.

You do realize that Walker keeps stepping in it & making the news, and no one is more regressive than him? Of course that would be covered by a progressive news source. I read Huffpo every day & it only helps get the word out that he is INSANE. And that's he's totally regressive.

But repetition of ideas and pictures to use them to formulate ideas..is not "bullshit." Images used over and over again are very powerful. Often more powerful than writing or reading. And..I am entitled to my opinion.
Many of the thousands who visit that site, just look and see images...You may look deeper, but I doubt most read all of the articles. But the mind, I believe imprints certain pictures, and I believe that is what Huffington Post is doing.

Use of Republicans particularly flattering. I think you are imagining things.
Since they always have a picture with the stories, running stories critical of Republicans would mean photos of them.
Read the comments, the majority of them are liberal.
I don't think this notion of yours has any foundation.
You are just making subjective assumptions about these photos. And another poster showed you wrong about the Walker pics.
Read the content. It was the first site I saw the story about the disastrous JEB foreign policy speech, and they didn't mince words.
