I always thought the "Soviet" soldiers in Red Dawn looked a little...enormous...for Soviet soldiers. Real Soviet combat arms soldiers could be no more than 5'6" because the Soviets wanted their vehicles to have a low profile, and the easiest way to accomplish it was to conscript infantrymen and tankers from the Central Asian Republics.
