Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walkers comparison of his fight with labor unions to the U.S. struggle against the Islamic State was inappropriate and a mistake, likely Republican presidential competitor and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday.

CPAC Day Two: Walker and Jeb Bush
These are Americans, Perry said in an interview after Walker made the comments at the Conservative Political Action Conference early Thursday evening. You are talking about, in the case of ISIS, people who are beheading individuals and committing heinous crimes, who are the face of evil. To try to make the relationship between them and the unions is in appropriate.
In a question-and-answer session at CPAC, Walker was asked how he would fight the terror group thats been beheading Westerners and seizing territory across Iraq and Syria. He concluded a lengthy answer by referring to his own political fights with labor unions in his home state: If I can take on 100,000 protesters, I can do the same across the world, he said.
When asked if he thought Walkers comments went too far, Perry said, yes.

(4,450 posts)Nothing Walker ever says is ever "off the cuff." I can just about guarantee that Walker's handlers knew he would be asked about ISIS. The scary thing is that, with a guy who literally never ever goes off script, we can probably assume that this was actually his prepared response.
It didn't fly so they're now walking it back, but I have no doubt that this is actually what he was told to say.

(6 posts)I want to remind people comparisons like this shouldn't be tolerated from anybody. You have a right to be angry; ISIS is a bunch of murderous thugs, unions obviously are not murderous thugs. However, I have seen many posted comments on the net claiming the tea party is just as bad as ISL which obviously isn't true either. Just sayin'

(55,142 posts)Walker made the comparison and you'r telling us, well you know what you just told us.
I find that very odd. Why not just stick to the topic at hand.
BTW as a Gay man you would be hard pressed not to get me to compare the two. Just sayin'

(6 posts)To me the topic at hand is the name calling. Like I said, I read comments by Americans comparing other Americans to ISIS all the time and it never advances the conversation and honestly, it is the writer that looks like an dummy, not the writer's target.

(26,117 posts)why did you come into a thread on some bullshit that creepy Scott Walker said and use it as an opportunity to wag your finger at other people? Nobody in this thread has compared Americans to ISIS...except Scott Walker.
How do you feel about labor unions? How do you feel about Scott Walker?

I never thought I'd agree with ANYTHING that Rick Perry ever said; but I do in this case.
Thanks for posting this, malaise.
