WOW!! Did Maddow expose a HUGE Achilles heal of the RMoney campaign on MTP this morning?

On MTP RMoney advisers are trying making the case that women are getting paid just as much as men and there's parity in workplace MOSTLY because there's a segment of working women that get paid more than men per the RMoney adviser...

Anyone think RMoney might have come out against the Liddly Ledbetter act (sp) and think he's going to get slammed on that later?

TIA for any input

4. That was his job -- minimize the info she can get out.

she is so effective, the republicans have decided that they need to keep her quiet. I noticed that when she is on MTP, he is also on...and he constantly interrupts her.

I believe it is the planned attack to keep her from getting out the truth.

6. Of course, she has 2.5 hours a week with full editorial control, so if she has truth to

get out, she can do it when the camera is hers and only hers, and she can do so at length and in great detail.

9. Audience size is vastly different

MTP has an audience of about 2.5 million. Rachel's show has an audience of about 1/4 million which makes the MTP audience 10 times larger.

(Looked up these numbers on Google)

15. Addtionally, most of her audience (RMS) is already liked minded, whereas, she may reach a few

different thinking individuals on MTP where she might just plant a new idea in their minds.

8. That's what happens when they have no good rebuttal to her facts.

I started watching during that segment and I was amazed at how Rachel managed to keep her poise and self-control as Castellanos sitting next to her wouldn't let her get a word in edgewise. Also, she pretty much shut down the congresswoman who kept insisting that the main issue is the economy and that the women's issue is a Democratic "distraction."

There is no question where the GOP's agenda lies, and for them to deny it and to dismiss it as a mere "distraction" is an insult to the intelligence.

12. I could not believe

how rude and condescending he was to her!
Really got me riled up.
I never watch MTP except when Rachel is on, but I could barely stand it this morning!
So many right-wing talking points... so little time!

5. One thing is clear, Mitten's surrogates lie with the same ease as their boss.

This crap might work if they weren't competing against team Obama. Sucks to be them.

7. Castellanos was a condescending dick! He tried to talk down to Rachel and make

Her seem like a hysteric. The other lady came off as a weak moron.

11. I wish I knew what study he was trying to "quote" (misrepresent).

When I use the Google for "women aged 40 - 64 earn more than men" I get nothing even slightly resembling what he was trying to use as evidence that income inequality does not exist.

I did find one interesting site on the second page of my search results

http://collegetimes.us/10-surprising-statistics-on-women-in-the-workplace/

^snip^ (sticking to the 4 paragraph rule)

2. Women make only 77.5 cents for every dollar that men earn. This figure comes from data on the 2003 census. Despite this gap, many economists feel that the gap between pay for men and women is due to different personal choices men and women make about personal fulfillment, child rearing and hours at work. Whichever you choose to believe, the reality is that the gap is slowly but surely closing as women become increasingly educated and dual income families become the norm, but this isnít much consolation to those who feel discriminated against today.

3. The more education a woman has, the greater the disparity in her wages. This certainly doesnít mean women should shy away from professional positions, but they should be aware that they may have to battle harder for equal pay. Women in professional specialty occupations were found to earn just 72.7% of what men in the same position earned, and women in upper level executive, administrative and managerial occupations earned even less at 72.3%. If you compare this against the average of 77.5%, the numbers speak for themselves, and this graphic from the New York Times makes it even easier to see.

4. Women may work longer to receive the promotions that provide access to higher pay. One example provided by the National Center for Education Statistics shows that women often have to work three years longer in a teaching position to be promoted to a principal than their male counterparts. Some studies suggest that this is because women and men adapt different strategies when it comes to management and pursuing promotions, yet other studies connect it less to work and more to gender-based biases.

6. Women account for 46% of the labor force, but 59% of workers making less than $8 an hour. What does it mean? It means that many women are taking on jobs that pay well under a living wage. With nearly 16% of U.S. households having women who are divorced, widowed or never married as the sole providers, this leaves many women at a distinct disadvantage and struggling to make ends meet as they dominate jobs in low paying fields.

Funny how I went looking for one thing and found the opposite.

14. I believe he slipped the word "single" in there

Duhhh!

SINGLE women are usually career driven while SINGLE men are usually down on their luck.
