1. For a conservative, it's not a bad apology

The text: "Regret my tweeted question caused a stir. I certainly & unequivocally apologize to Sandra & anyone else I offended. Not my intention."

3. Boilerplate Conswervative Apology.

"Sorry that you took offense at my offensive comment" = "Sorry that I got caught"

7. I read it differently

Tweets by their nature aren't very specific, but it appears she is apologizing directly to Sandra Fluke and "anyone else I offended." I read that as slightly but significantly different from "sorry if you were offended," which is the mealy-mouthed formulation that puts the onus on the aggrieved party for being offended. Crowley appears to take responsibility for doing the offending, rather than putting that responsibility on the people who were offended.

9. But then she ads the caveat "not my intention" which is 100% baloney...

...She didn't intend to offend Sandra Fluke by suggesting that she was in fact a lesbian rather than straight? If she didn't think it would be offensive and seen as a character flaw, then why say anything at all.

I agree it is miles better than the standard "I'm sorry if I offended anyone", but not by much...

10. the only people not offended are homophobes and bigots..

so no, not much of an apology at all. the correct way would be to say "i apologize for my offensive remark." no qualifiers necessary.

14. That's why I said it wasn't bad

Crowley avoided the worst apology she could have made. I probably would have fallen out of my chair and hurt myself if she had actually done it correctly.

4. not so great

How about saying something about how what she said was wrong and never should have been said.

What was her intent? To give her fans a laugh? Harr Harr Harr!

Fuck her and fuck this "apology."

2. Monica Crowley still doesn't get it - she needs to apologize to the LGBT community.

Sandra Fluke has already said she didn't consider the remark an insult - but Monica Crowley did.

And apparently still does, if she's apologizing to Ms Fluke. .

11. Totally agree...

The reason she suggested that Ms. Fluke was gay, was because she thinks that being a lesbian is a BAD thing, and something to be made fun of and ridiculed.

This is only marginally better than the standard "aw shucks I got caught so I'll issue some milquetoast apology that really isn't genuine" that most rightwing fucktards use when they accidentally say out loud what we all know they think all the time...

Screw her, and screw her apology...

5. It was such a dumb comment, Monica Crowley should be embarrassed.

It was the lamest snark, ever. Wasn't she originally supposed to be a slut who needs tons of birth control? Okay, but now that she's engaged, haha she's a lesbian.

That just made Monica Crowley look really dumb.

20. Some people think any snark is good snark-- No. Not when it totally misses the mark.

Hopefully by high school, a person learns that failed snark just makes you look really dumb and petty.

Speaking of high school, can't you just imagine teen Monica Crowley with her clique, throwing out random insults and jabs about her rivals, and giggling? She probably also made "ugly" wisecracks about pretty girls she was jealous of.

15. She is protecting her position, and trying to not be LYNCHED by her hater fans.

She DID intend to cause a stir. And she got it. If Faux was bright, they would use this to make amends, and inroads into the gay community. They get egged regularly by the Log Cabin Repubs{joke}. Cool points would go a long way with Faux, glad they aren't bright.

18. Too little too late. Most of us don't listen and don't want to hear from you.

I'd tell you to STFU but I probably wouldn't notice if you did except for the rare comment here on DU.
