If you were President, what one major policy or program would you change?

I would cut military spending in half immediately. With our spending now at approximately $650 Billion, if we cut spending in half, we would still spend three times more than China, the number two global military spender at just over $100 Billion, and we'd still equal China, plus the next three top spenders of France, the UK, and Russia, who spend roughly between $50 and $60 Billion. Just imagine what we could do with $300 Billion in America. With a measley $10 Billion I would finance the creation of the Department of Peace.

Go ahead, feel the power, what would you do?

young men & women were given meaningfull work for a days pay. It taught them to work together collectively on projects that better their communities and the nation. We have lots of infrastructure to repair in this country. I'd imagine a trillion dollar program would do wonders. I'd also put the returning servicemen to work on these projects they have skills that we could use.

I think the hemp part could probably be done with a minimum of government subsidies- just make it OK and get out of the way. But emphasize a Hemp USA patriotic revival and keep fucking Monsanto out of it.

It's incredibly stupid that we still incarcerate people for possession. Not only the jobs and tax revenue that would be created, but the savings on all the money spent on arresting, prosecuting, and incarcerating.

I believe this is a major disappointment of the Obama administration. The assault on medical MJ is just sad.

Get federal legislation going on decriminalizing possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Indicate that immigration reform is the next major piece of legislation to get done and get the ball rolling on it.

Double-down on withdrawal from Afghanistan (i.e. get moving ahead of schedule).

Give a speech where I declare full support for gay marriage. Hold high level meeting to determine what's the best way to get that done (because I don't know).

Drink more Courvosier.

Form band called 'Branches' with myself, a member of Congress, and a Supreme Court Justice. Get WH staffer to do book gigs and oversee recording sessions.

Maybe you got drunk with the power or the Courvosier.

Ah, what the hell, carry on.
How about a monthly concert in the oval office?
We could mix it up with a techno rave one month, and maybe a Jugaloo gathering for the ICP, and then perhaps some classical or something fancy, for the fancy folks.
Oh yeah, there has to be a little reggae party too!

Thanks for playing

Monthly concert? More like monthly fundraiser with rotating cast of Democratic Party loyalists! I'd kick it off with Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. What? He's not a Democrat? At least he's Canadian so I could count on him to support my health care proposals. If he didn't I'd chain him in a room and force him to perform for the first daughters non-stop until he came around.

If I had to choose one policy, I'd have to go with the decriminalization of marijuana.

John F. Kennedy vs The Federal Reserve

"Perhaps the assassination of JFK was a warning to all future presidents not to interfere with the private Federal Reserve's control over the creation of money. It seems very apparent that President Kennedy challenged the "powers that exist behind U.S. and world finance". With true patriotic courage, JFK boldly faced the two most successful vehicles that have ever been used to drive up debt:

1) war (Viet Nam); and,

2) the creation of money by a privately owned central bank. His efforts to have all U.S. troops out of Vietnam by 1965 combined with Executive Order 11110 would have destroyed the profits and control of the private Federal Reserve Bank."

I would end the Justice Department's current "forgive and forget" coddling of the leftover crooks in the Legislative Branch and in lobbying circles. To Sheol with the politics of Kum-bay-ya! Since the Radical Right hates Democrats and Progressives NO MATTER WHAT WE DO, I see NO point in compromising our chances for cleaner, less corrupt government by making nice with Tea Partyin' reactionaries. If they did the crime, and there's more than enough evidence for successful criminal prosecutions, I say "Take 'em Down!".

If the right-wingers don't like it, too bad! This is part of the world (and blow-back) that THEY co-created.

nationalize banking, and reform corporations.

I don't see a lot wrong with capitalism, what I object to are ills of banking, like hedge fund managers, crazy and risky stocks, bonds and such, and controlling so much of the money in the country.

I would also find ways to limit the amount of influence the religious right has in Washington, and the amount of power wielded by the rich.
