The Strike for Dignity:
The 1st day of the Strike for Dignity, today, was planned to be for the 1st stage, in which children do not attend school and spreading awareness about the strike, and to arrive at a later stage at a state of civil disobedience.

In Rrual Hama:
People’s participation in the strike:
Today was more like civil disobedience, especially in northern area of rural Ham, including the towns of; Taibat Al-Imam, Souran, Morek, Al-Latamnel, Halfaya, Khattab, Kafr Zita, Qalaat Al-Madiaq, Kernaz, and the villages in Sahl Al-Ghab region. People did not go to work, children did not attend school, and the markets were closed. In Halfaya even government departments were paralyzed.
Demonstrations were held condemning the Arab States League and calling for the execution of president Bashar Al-Assad.

Regine forces response:
Reigme forces tried to break the strike by terrorizing the people. Al-Majdal village was savagely stormed amid heavy firing to terrorize locals into submitting and breaking the strike, a child, Rosa Jasem Al-Hamid was killed by a sniper’s bullet, and 35 years old, Ahmed Al-Hakim, was killed in the indiscriminate firing. Also 3 were injured and are in critical condition. The savage attack caused large defections in the army. In Bridij town, enlist Umar Ahmed Al-Aloush was killed by regime forces for refusing to fire at peaceful protesters.

Hama city:
People’s participation in the strike:
In Hama city, and in the absolute majority committed to the strike, government departments except for the governmental palaces, schools, and stores were closed, only one bakery was open in Al-Hader (one of the 2 areas making Hama city). Some streets were blocked by dumpsters. Public transportations participated in the strike, while few taxis did not.
Demonstrations were held in the neighborhoods of Al-Sharqiya, Al-Hamidiya, Al-Qusour, Tariq Halab (Aleppo-Road), Bab Qebli, and Al-Bayad.

Regime forces response:
Security forces were heavily deployed in the city, with armored vehicles and other army vehicles, Jeeps, and trucks...etc. They combed the neighborhood to intimidate the people. In their firing they killed 2 victims; Tala Arwani from Al-Marabet Street, and Ibrahim Al-Tayyar from Al-Faraya neighborhood. Snipers were deployed on the rooftops of some public buildings, and they injured 6 residents.
Army aircrafts broke the sound barriers over the city terrorizing women and children. Some helicopters flew at low altitude and some security elements hid in the streets corners to find out who is recording the strike.
The morning started with sporadic gunfire to terrorize residents into submission, and the firing intensified later.
Regime forces punished the closed stores by firing at them, and breaking the locks and leaving the stores open...in some areas they also looted the stores. When residents –in Al-Hader area- tried to come to the streets and prevent the looting, security and Shabiha (regime-sponsored gangs) fired heavily at them. In Tariq Halab neighborhood, and after a demonstration was gathering, security attacked and quelled the protest and forced the stores to open.
As regime forces grew more angry, they started arresting anyone in their way, firing more heavily injuring residents, and 8 explosions were heard in the city.
