Anti-LGBT pastor arrested for grabbing man’s genitals at Indiana park: police

southern Indiana minister who preaches against homosexuality was accused of soliciting gay sex at a park.

Gaylard Williams, pastor of Praise Cathedral Church of God in Seymour, was charged with battery after a man said he grabbed his genitals last week at Cypress Lake.

A man parked at the lake Dec. 12 said the 59-year-old Williams asked him to roll down his vehicle window, then reached in and squeezed his genitals and offered to perform oral sex.

The man told the pastor he was “barking up the wrong tree” and acted like he was reaching for a gun.

He said Williams fled, but he wrote down his license plate number and called police.

Officers said Williams had gay adult material in his vehicle when they stopped him later.

1. I feel sorry for him

Of course he is completely wrong about everything and he is toxic. However, he must really hate himself and must think he is going to hell for sure for being a liar and a fraud and oh that gay thing.

If he had been raised differently (very likely one or more of his parents is or was homophobic and rabidly so) he might have grown up with a healthier attitude toward being gay. He might have had a shot at being in a good relationship. Or he might have just enjoyed playing the field as an openly gay man. Whatever path he took as an openly gay person would have had to be a better path. He wouldn't have been nearly as likely to molest strangers in a park. But, as it is he is a sad sad individual who is a sad commentary on the homophobic sub culture in our country.

2. Sadness more than anger

Larry Craig, Ted Haggard, and now this guy...I understand the impulse to smirk at the hypocrisy of politicians or clergy who bash gays by day and then look for gay sex by night, but somehow these stories mostly just make me sad. I hope society is changing so that fewer gay folks will feel the kind of smothering pressure to live secret lives, and then feel the need to bash gays in order to reinforce their own secret. What a lonely and sad way to live.
