been rude, judgmental, deliberately ignorant, smug, cruel, and selfish. I went to a parochial school and those little bastards were unbelievably cruel. Then they'd sit in church every week and figure it was okay to be mean again on Monday. Or Sunday afternoon.

Yes, there are good Christians out there. But they don't have the market cornered on kindness. The kindest people I have known are atheists.

Kindness is an evolutionary emotion. We needed each other to survive way back when. We do now too, but too many stupid people don't get that. Kindness has NOTHING to do with religion.
