Attacking Obama, National Review hack claims Democrats ripped Elian Gonzalez from arms of "parent"

Following President Obama's speech on immigration, National Review columnist AJ Delgado writes, accompanying this photo from 2000:

"?@AJDelgado13

Are we a nation that rips children from their parents' arms?" Only if they're Cubans."

Naturally, conservatives went nuts and retweeted it all over the Twitterverse.

Of course, the only problem is the man seen in the photo isn't Elian's parent. He's not even a relative.

It's Donato Dalrymple, the rightwing "fisherman" who had become a spokesman for the Miami hostage-taker loons who were defying court orders, threatening to shoot federal agents and refusing to return the boy to his father, Juan Miguel González Quintana, who had traveled from Cuba to to the U.S. in order to get his son back.

Busted in a lie, Delgado, of course, hilariously tries to spin her way out of it:

@AJDelgado13
Every liberal in my Mentions: "Hm, that's not his dad." REALLY?? OMG, I had no idea! Apparently must be a LITERAL "PARENT", people! #LULZ

Yes, because when people hear the word "parent," it's only naturally to assume it can also include someone with no genetic or legal ties to a kid. Durn lib'ruls and their literalism!

This is what passes for thinking at William F. Buckley's old rag these days, folks.

This is all part of the master plan to replace Cubans with Mexicans or something.

She raises their objections to deportation of Elian Gonzales in objecting to President Obama protecting immigrants against deportation.

Her comment could also be taken to mean that Republicans were FOR immigrant rights before they were AGAINST them.
