Put on your tinfoil hats.
As some of you may have read early this morning, the local NPR affiliate announced cheerfully at 5:10 AM or so that "The polls open at 7 AM." Wrong. They opened at 6:00 AM. I tried to contact the NPR affiliate, WBEZ, to tell them, no, you idiots. Called three different numbers. No joy. Left an email. No response. So I called the Board of Elections. They were interested in both my tales (the other was an issue with the vote machine--I know, I know, you're shocked.) I then called the station and told them. A colleague in the Science Department office said, Yeah, I was driving in, and I heard the same thing. I was yelling at the radio. I said, So you were listening to WBEZ?
"WBEZ? No, I was listening to WGN".
This is not looking like a coincidence.
Who votes from 6 AM to 7 AM? It ain't the 1%.

(205,225 posts)On MSNBC they've had a running notice on poll closing times in all the states. Some close at 6, others at 6:30, 7, etc. My state (New York) closes at 9, but some are open till 10 or 11.
