PayMe has major contributors to various newspapers calling for the firing of the reporter on CNN, who DARED to laugh about the brawl. Anyone listening to the tapes, reading the transcripts will be appalled. There were young children in that stretch Hummer, witnessing all this fighting and foul language. Child Protective Services should have been called. Talk about TRASHY people, the entire family needs rehab, plus some lessons in expressing themselves without the F word.

Compare Sarah Palin to Eleanor Roosevelt. Need I say more.

That Sarah Palin was a vice presidential nominee in our country makes me feel ashamed. How was it possible.

Sarah Palin and her family's behavior, their lack of self-respect and self-discipline make Bill Clinton's personal scandal look minor. And it was embarrassing enough.

I will say here and now that I have never in my life been a party to or even witnessed a siituation like the brawl at the party that Bristol Palin described in her telephone call. The Palin family is primitive in my opinion. What was John McCain thinking? What was the Republican Party thinking? Where do they dig these people up?

I KNOW it. Because I saw my own dad do it, repeatedly, every time there was some fetching female in the room - whether my mom was present or not. My father could not help himself. His eyes would go straight to her ass. And her boobs. And her legs if you could see enough of 'em. And that's where they'd stay.

john mccain gave himself and his motivations away CLEARLY on the day after the Dem convention wherein he attempted to steal the thunder of the night before (and the news cycle) when Barack Obama rocked the house. The very next morning was when he chose to make his big reveal - announcing his pick for running mate. And there SHE was.

And he announced her at the podium, and then stepped back and to the side, camera left, so she could move to the front and take the podium and make her formal debut. I don't know if anybody else saw this but it was like smacking me across the face with a neon 2x4! There he stood, plain as day, behind and to the side, and throughout her entire speech, he kept glancing over at her ass while fiddling with his wedding ring. COULD NOT have been any more clear, any more obvious. And the old fucker's WIFE was standing right there - behind and to the other side. They were flanking palin. And he did it WHILE HIS WIFE WAS STANDING THERE a few feet away from him. I couldn't believe it. I don't remember a thing palin said because I was captivated by watching john mccain. Who had just unmasked himself as nothin' but just another dirty old man. john mccain dropped his pants that day and exposed himself for who, and what, he really was.

I would be willing to bet that what tipped the scales for him was the thought that "all things being equal, I sure could stand to look at THAT for the next four-to-eight years." I would BET that's what clinched it for him. He let what was left of his hormones decide who should be his running mate. Just could NOT keep from ogling her ass. Just could not help himself. And of course, knowing his track record for throwing over his physically-damaged wife for the pretty shiny new young blonde one with the legs that were nice and shapely and whole the way his wife's legs used to be but weren't anymore since that car accident she had, it really seemed rather painfully obvious.

Therefore I find it almost Shakespearean in its exquisiteness - she wound up helping him lose.

Not one little bit!

I look forward to watching her age - to see those looks she's banked on all these years start fading. Watching the jowls descend, and the neck get crepey, and the upper eyelids and eyebrows start sagging. Then just watch, they'll all disappear for awhile, until THAT starts surrendering to the forces of gravity, too. And then if she's still whoring on cable TV, she'll probably get it all fixed again. And that's a never-ending downward spiral that costs increasing fortunes as you age and need increasing amounts of work done. If she values her looks and her impact as a public figure, she'll have to. Or maybe she'll just go natural and let it all sag and fall down. But then she'll lose some of her power, because for her, it's ALWAYS been about her looks. And when that starts to go, she won't have much left to make up for it.

I can't wait!!!! THAT is gonna be fuuuuuuuunnnnn!!!

I remember him. Back when being a republi-CON was not so utterly horrible and completely and flatly un-Christian. Probably because Nelson Rockefeller never needed anybody else's money to succeed in politics. He had plenty of his own. So he probably felt he could afford to do a few things that were TRULY the right things to do to benefit the greater good (not "right" as the wrong-wing defines it these days). Granted I was a lot younger and more idealistic back then, too.

It was his job to know all major politicians from Great Lakes states, and the governor of New York was always right up there. I only got to meet him once, when I was hired to play (Russian!) music at a reception for Ford and Rockefeller in 1975 at the National Press Club in Washington. Except for Al Gore 20 years later, the only photo of me and a serving Vice President is with me in Russian folk costume and a guitar face to face with a grinning Nelson Rockefeller! Pretty funny, in retrospect....

He needed a slack-jawed fundamentalist moron as a running mate. He knew that because his own whackjob credentials were too soft.

Although I met someone years ago who had worked for VP Rockefeller who said that if he had lived longer he was ready to spend every last cent fighting the religious right. That is how angry he was about being fired by Gerald Ford and his own Presidential campaign.

LOATHED the Jebus-wheezers with an undying passion:

"I think every good Christian ought to kick Falwell right in the ass."

"I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in "A," "B," "C" and "D." Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?

And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of "conservatism."

Speech in the US Senate (16 September 1981)

"When you say "radical right" today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others who are trying to take the Republican Party away from the Republican Party, and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye."

WaPo interview 1994

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them."

- 1994 quoted by John Dean in Conservatives Without Conscience."

Proof-positive that a broken clock is, indeed, correct twice a day. Barry Goldwater was SPOT-ON about the "christian" "right." In the statements from 1981 and 1994, specifically. Stunningly remarkable. One of those moments in which one can sincerely say "I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with Barry Goldwater." And I count myself among them!

On edit - I saw another thread here today that dovetails with that:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1218159537

Seems to dovetail with the general idea expressed in Barry Goldwater's statements. To me, religion is and should be a very personal thing. Once you start pushing it into other arenas than personal, privately-held, intimate convictions held - and kept - within your own heart, there's gonna be trouble, imo.

WHY??? WHAT is there to be proud of? She's a freakin' BIMBO. Well, okay. I just answered my own question. THAT is what they hold as a shining example of women. THAT is their idea of relating to women. Just the same as they brought a male bimbo to the foreground with bush1. I distinctly remember when he picked the idiot dan quayle for his running mate. quayle was widely regarded as easy on the eyes. By both sides. And I forget who in the public arena - either pol or pundit - made the comment but there WAS a comment: "that'll be one for the ladies." Telegraphing that bush1 thought all he had to do was offer us gals a pretty face, a good lookin' guy, and we'd fall for it. Embarrassing to admit on behalf of my gender but some women did. They did get some of the women's vote. Thank God that didn't last for another four years. Rumplestilskin stepped in to spoil it for king george the first, and wound up spinning straw into gold for an appealing new squire from Arkansas.

I will always be grateful to Ross Perot for that! His presence as a third-party candidate messed up the equation in 1992 and allowed Bill Clinton to come out ahead. And it was a beautiful thing to see that World's Biggest Entitlement Program go DOWN (the World's Biggest Entitlement Program is the presumptive "entitlement" of the GOP to OWN and monopolize the reins of power. They think it's their birthright.). I LOVE seeing them be denied this. Not only for the sheer glory of seeing them defeated yet again but also what it means for the benefit of the rest of us for whom the GOP does NOT speak, and cares even less.

28. According to the exit polls Perot took equally from both candidates.
Mon Oct 27, 2014, 01:18 AM
Oct 2014

And that was on Election Day. Prior to the election, every single poll showed Perot taking more votes from Clinton than from Bush. That's why Bush was the one who insisted on including Perot in the debates.

When Perot re-entered the race with a month to go, Clinton was ahead by 15 to 20 points, and had been for some time. If it is true that Bush would have won, then that means that George HW Bush, the first president since William Howard Taft in 1912 to not get 40% of the vote when running for re-election, was going to have a legendary, Harry Truman-style come-from-behind shocker of a victory.

Bush Sr. would have needed almost 2/3 of Perot's vote in order to win. That means that one of the state's that he would have won was California.

It was pretty much the same way with Bob Dole in 1996. All the polls showed Perot taking more votes from Clinton than from Dole. Election Day, and the exit polls, was the first time that this wasn't the case. And once again the exit polls showed Perot taking equally from both candidates.
