http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/10/a-hispanic-man-delivers-absentee-ballots-and-now-conservatives-want-him-dead/Conservatives are outraged over what they claim, mistakenly, to be evidence of massive voter fraud being perpetrated in Arizona, The Daily Dot reports.
In the video which was posted at Glenn Becks The Blaze under the headline, Surveillance video apparently catches guy doing something at the ballot box that left Republican monitor stunned Ben Marine can be seen entering the lobby of the polling station in a Citizens for a Better Arizona (CBA) shirt and delivering absentee ballots he had collected.
Despite the outrage from conservative sites, Marine was not behaving illegally when he delivered the ballots to the polling station.
But A.J. LaFaro, the chairman of the Maricopa County Republican Committee, told the Arizona Daily Independent that Marines behavior was suspicious, and complained that Marine was a vulgar, direspectful, violent thug that has no respect for our laws. I would have followed him to the parking lot to take down his tag number but I feared for my life.
I believe its inconceivable, LaFaro continued, unacceptable and should be illegal for groups to collect hundreds, if not thousands, of voters ballots and return them to the elections offices or polling locations.
In Arizona, however, it is not illegal for groups like the CBA to collect absentee ballots and deliver them on behalf of the citizens who filled them out. As stated in the Arizona Elections Manual, (a)fter (voters) have securely sealed the voted ballot inside the early ballot return envelope, voters may voluntarily give their voted early ballot to a person of their choice for delivery to the Recorder or a polling place.

(2 posts)The woman from Waukesha County is Kathy Nickolaus, not Kathy Niclaus. If you are going to discuss a public figure then at least have the decency to spell check and research to make sure you have spelled their name right. There is only one Kathy Niclaus in the USA, I am her, and I have never been to Waukesha County, wherever that is located. I am tired of my name coming up in online searches because people like you are too lazy to do your homework before you start typing.

(10,070 posts)Except, of course, if you're guilty of voting while not Republican. The party that advocates States' Rights when it suits them seems to have a hard time dealing grasping the concept that different states may have different laws: in California Marine's actions would have been illegal (only people with certain relationships to the voter can deliver their ballots) but that's irrelevant.

(42,696 posts)If LaFaro truly thought it was illegal he should have contacted the authorities instead of whining his indignation at the local newsrag. If, in his mind, any laws are violated he's not an effective leader for not reporting it.

(11,080 posts)You have to allow hand delivery of absentee ballots, or the cost of postage becomes a sort of poll tax. You cannot require people to spend money to vote. Not yet, anyway. I'm sure the Roberts Court will try to make it possible in time, plus giving corporations the right to vote. They're people, after all.

(10,252 posts)Wow! It takes one to know one, Dude. It's your mind that is generating that image. We Buddhists believe that the guy delivering the ballots is empty of those qualities. Probably shunyata, or emptiness, is far too subtle for that Dude to grasp.
And what's this bit about "our laws?" As tho' the law belonged to them, and only them.
Have you ever noticed that RWer fundie christians are always demonizing those of whom they disapprove? Jesus Christ God Almighty. When will they actually start to love their neighbors?
