Instagram artist documents her vandalism in several national parks.

Instagram Artist Leaves Her Mark On Several National Parks

An Instagram artist has been visiting national parks and leaving her mark. This habit could end up in some felony charges once the Park Service catches on and finds her.
...

One particular conversation on Instagram points to Nocket knowing her wrongdoing. Account owner “wordgebra” asked her if she was using paint or chalk, to which the Instagram artist admitted it was acrylic, and then finished with, “I know, I’m a bad person.”

The art that Nocket has left in her wake includes various faces painted in Yosemite National Park, Death Valley’s Telescope Peak, Crater Lake National Park, Carrizo Plain National Monument, Sequoia, Bryce, Zion, Grand Staircase-Escalante, Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, and the Rocky Mountain National Park.

But a more permanent paint means that she is basically saying her expression is more important than the people who share this land and want to see a pristine natural landscape.

In some national parks with climbing as one of the features, climbers are actively discouraged from using chalk to mark handholds as they may be in areas with infrequent rainfall and using chalk will deface the rock face for years.

I will forward this on to the federal agencies because as a part owner of the National Parks, I feel she has defiled my property, stupid self-absorbed %&^$&$&*!!!

BTW, thanks for posting.

And if she is defiling Native American owned land, she is in even bigger trouble. They have strict laws on this kind of thing. Leave nothing more than your footprints is their law.

Vandalism reported in 10 national parks of the West

Incidents illustrated on social media

WASHINGTON: The National Park Service is investigating reports of vandalism in at least 10 national parks in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Utah.

While we can’t discuss details of a case under investigation, we take the issue of vandalism seriously. National parks exist to preserve and protect our nation’s natural, cultural and historic heritage for both current and future generations. Vandalism is not only a violation of the law but it also damages and sometimes destroys often irreplaceable treasures that belong to all Americans.

There are forums for artistic expression in national parks because national parks inspire artistic creativity. These images are outside that forum and outside the law.

Parks affected (awaiting confirmation): Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona; Yosemite National Park, California; Death Valley National Park, California; Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, California; Joshua Tree National Park, California; Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado; Crater Lake National Park, Oregon; Bryce National Park, Utah; Zion National Park, Utah; and Canyonlands National Park, Utah.

We petition the obama administration to:
Press charges - Casey Nocket - fines,max community service,jail time,etc. for - http://goo.gl/hY4yQj (defacing NP & NM)

Casey Nocket has traveled around the western US vandalizing National Parks and National Monuments with her "art." She has acknowledged that she is not in the right only in regards to her use of acrylic paints, she responded to a question about her paint materials on Instagram with the comment "I know, I'm a bad person."

http://goo.gl/63QDQ2

The preceding link is to an article about her trip through the western US where she did her work. It can be seen that she vandalize these locations and in some cases climbed across protected historical works. Furthermore, it should be noted that plenty of people on within her social network seem to be of the opinion that this isn't wrong.

Please don't allow her to receive a slap. Please pursue the most serious of charges for these offenses.
