my first child is finally old enough to vote

she will be early voting tomorrow, in this red state, she is already frustrated at the overwhelming numbers of stupidity of voting Republican.

She is already questioning the Presidential elections, why isn't there one person one vote?

Your daughter sounds pretty darned intelligent.

I hope she will learn to deal with reality and put her intelligence to good use.

Isn't it amazing when they actually grow up?

Please make sure she understands that as stupid as our electoral college system is, she still needs to vote.

She might also want to find a copy of the Isaac Asimov story, "Franchise". If I were dictator of North America, that story would be required reading. It was written about 1950, and is about the election of 2004 (I think. I may have the dates wrong.) It is about a future in which polling has gotten so precise that the election is decided by one and only one voter.

Really, you should read it.
