(108,959 posts)14. No. But the overconfidence of the medical establishment, coupled with lack of preparation,
led to problems much worse than any "panic." If the public officials and hospital administrators had been less concerned about public panic and more concerned about doing their jobs (properly training staff and providing adequate supplies), we would have been in a better position.
The best way to reduce public panic isn't to spout off about how there isn't anything to worry about, but to demonstrate how well they're handling the situation.
