Interview Inquisition Serves Its Purpose For Employers

The interview "inquisition" serves a larger goal for employers and it is even being used for low wage jobs. The trend will only increase. Because there are so many applicants even for a $10 an hour job employers can afford to wait. It is a way of keeping workers in their place and keep them completely subservient while they are on the job if they get on.

The idea is like softening up your opponent is a boxing match. By the the time the employee gets the job they will be willing to follow any employee policy that is demanded of them. They will be so scared that they will even be willing to "figuratively" commit murder and mayhem to keep their job.

When I was an interviewer at Job Service working with clients I would see "the inquisition" as a common tactic used by employers. And today when the job search is more like a lottery and employers are more brutal and sadistic than ever. Now workers have to go through one or two multiple interview panels that really are "inquisitions". The only thing missing are the dark robes. The new world of job seeking is forcing the individual to go through a personal and psychological "strip search" that is really "cruel and unusual punishment".

The new regime of looking for work is like have to sell your soul and make a deal with the devil just so you can even afford to eat. More than anything else the practice reveals that employees have really lost all their rights. And if the GOP gets its way matters will become exponentially worse.
