Les Miserables Metaphor Of Our Time

The more things change the more they stay the same as the saying goes. Victor Hugo whose prescient novel is now one of the most renowned musical in the world shows what life was like in another era. If the GOP has its way we will experience that life in the USA where the rich owned and controlled every thing. Javert obviously harbored Republican ways as he pursued Val Jean over decades for breaking parole after serving 20 years at hard labor for stealing a loaf of bread. The Grenadiers were the perfect predators taking advantage of the situation.

You cannot watch that musical without thinking of what the GOP is today. Like the musical the GOP would even be prepared to slay children at the barricades if they are challenged.

Does anyone think that these kind of events cannot happen in America? Think again with all the mayhem the GOP and the rich plan for this election. We really are at a turning point in this nation about which way we shall go.

I recommend you find the DVD's of the concerts of Les Miserable and reflect. Maybe then it will be easier to understand if we ever let these thugs take power again.

I read the book when I was a kid and have seen the classic movie. I recommend both highly. It's a story that never gets old.
