He was the HS Latin teacher. He was one of those guys that just walked in the room and it went silent. Before the bell! Class didn't even start yet, but when he walked in, everybody shut up and got ready for class. Didn't have to. Just did it because everyone respected him so much.
He was a truly great teacher as well.

(7,499 posts)So glad Mr. Naething knew the impact he made on his students...remarkable that so many showed up for his retirement ceremony. It is every educator's greatest wish to be a positive influence on students and to light a candle in the darkness.
Keith Olbermann is awesome. Great tribute.
