20 quakes in Fukushima beginning with M5.9 24 hours ago - Consecutive M4.4s in last 30 minutesThe last number in each column is the Japan Seismic Intensity Number based on a scale of 1-7, 1 being the lowest and 7 the highest. I tried to seperate the numbers some, but the software isn't letting me. It is easier to read the chart at the link. For those who are unaware, the nuclear plant at Fukushima is still spewing radiation, and is extremely vulnerable. A quake large enough could topple the already leaning spent fuel pool 4 building. Experts predict a quake on the JSI scale of 4 or higher could cause the entire building to collapse.

(154,021 posts)Can be related to the major event of last year.
Foreshocks, if you are worried of a bad one, trend to be closer to the actual intensity. I see small quakes as a valv release.

(9,704 posts)Foreshocks are not always closer to the actual intensity. I have been monitoring the seismic activity at Fukushima on a daily basis since March of last year. The activity right now is unique. It could be aftershocks of the major quake last year. More likely, they are related to the 8.9 and 8.2 in the Indonesian Ocean since the the seismic activity around Japan increased after that.
You may want to watch these videos. They are very enlightening. Particularly the world map. In the top video (of just Japan), the March 11 quake happens at 1:52, there are a swarm of quakes prior to that, particularly at 1:50.

is quite reputable and enenews has been endorsed by Arnie Gundersen. The comments might be off the wall, but the site just links to news reports and blog reports without much (if any) commentary.
