"Fear Itself." Artist creates Zimmerman portrait with Skittles

DENVER — A Denver artist has created a portrait of Florida shooting suspect George Zimmerman using more than 12,000 Skittles — the candy that 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was carrying when Zimmerman fatally shot him.

The 3-by-4-foot portrait was done by 31-year-old Andy Bell, an art student about to graduate from Metropolitan State College in Denver.

Bell titled it "Fear Itself." He tells The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/I9XQV4) he's not judging Zimmerman but commenting on the divided opinions about the case.

He says, "It's a symbol of what happens when you let fear rule your life."

The digital/ pixelated quality of it makes it current... and enhances his initial concept... comments from both sides flying around the Internet an' all.

I hope the ants don't get to it.

They pulled out of ALEC this week.

Mars Inc. is one of the corporations calling it quits. Ironically, one of Mars' products is Skittles, the candy Trayvon Martin went to the the store to get the night George Zimmerman killed him. Zimmerman's defense at the time was of course Florida's Stand Your Ground law, a product of the ALEC legislation mill.
