Some women are above reproach and some aren't. Not ALL women are equal...

I'm blown away by the nature of today's politics.

Jacqueline Bouvier was the daughter of a stock broker. She never attended public school for a single day. When she made her "society debut" in 1947 a columnist dubbed her "debutante of the year".

Her Bachelors degree was in French Literature. Horse riding was one of her lifelong passions...

Can we focus on Mitt Romney's shortcomings as a presidential candidate for a moment?

Do we REALLY need to denigrate his wife in order to keep him from getting elected or is our argument of President Obama vs Candidate Romney so devoid of relevent facts that we have to hold up his FUCKING WIFE as the main reason not to elect him?

But, his reliance on her to "explain" women's issues to him only further underscores what we already know. The guy is absolutely clueless.

I'm just wondering what the fuck is going on that makes trashing one woman we HATE okay when there's an example of another woman WE ALL LOVE whose life is almost EXACTLY the same.

We LOVE some women, and HATE others... even though their life experiences are basically the same.

acted with great dignity during the terrible events. But I didn't love her or identify with her at all, and I still don't.

Concerning the OP, I think what people are reacting against is the hypocricy of suggesting that Ann Romney's experience is in any way similar to that of an ordinary stay-at-home mother. If AR would just be herself and not pretend to be something else, nobody would be thinking about it at all. One thing Jaqueline Kennedy never did was to pretend to be ordinary in any way.

though I think it's pretty pathetic that he needs her to muddle through women's issues.

That being said, I remember how Michelle Obama was slammed relentlessly in '08, and still even. They (the right, the same ones that are crying foul now) were horrible and said/say the most disgusting vile things about her.

I see what they say about DWS, and Hillary, all the democratic women, and I'm sick of 'being better than that' The snow queen is untouchable as far as they're concerned. Hell they've even brought the kids into it.

I know it sounds childish, vindictive, petty and a whole host of other things, but eventually you get sick of turning the other cheek, and want to hit back. They didn't spare any of our candidates wives, and what's being said about her is pretty tame in comparison.
